Watton 14 Swaffham 27 EC League and Cup Semi Final

Swaffham booked their place in the Norfolk Plate final with a victory at Watton and at the same time came away with 5 valuable league points. The score was close at half time after Watton had attacked the Swaffham line on several occasions but some excellent defensive work kept them five points ahead at 12-7.

Turning round with the wind and slope in their favour, Swaffham started well and it wasn’t long before Adam Potter went over for his second, to extended the lead. Ed Jones slotted a penalty, to put them in control at 20-7 with just 20 minutes to go. Watton fought hard but were stopped by some hard tackles and when Swaffham put the fourth try on the board the game was decided at 27-7. However, Watton refused to give up, and after a series of penalties and infringements, they made their way deep into Swaffham territory and scored with the last play of the game.

Swaffham will now play Holt 2nds in the Norfolk Plate final at North Walsham on 30th April
