Thanks to all who attended the Family Fun and Open Day!

Despite the doom merchant weather forecasters, the weather was great, although the players may have appreciated it being a bit cooler!

The advance promotion of the event paid dividends, with a full page advert in the Scarecrow Festival programme, banners in strategic locations and leaflets through doors, including the new developments around town.

Pitches were newly mowed, grounds were free of litter, and the bottom pitch had been scanned by a detectorist and cleared of metal objects which could injure visitors and players

Visitors of all ages arrived from 1pm, and depending on ages took advantage of the bar, barbecue and bouncy castles, all of which did a steady trade throughout the event.

Younger visitors had an opportunity to sample our game, with throwing and passing skills activities throughout the afternoon.

Swaffham Men’s shed had some of their creations on sale, and offered badge making for the younger visitors.

Our aim was to increase the profile of our Club in Swaffham, and attract new players of all ages supporters and volunteers. Time will tell, but indications on the day were very positive, with possible new participants in the Mini’s Tag Rugby which starts on Wednesday 7th September, and possible new Vice Presidents.

One visitor who had recently moved in to one of the new developments said that it was the leaflet through the door which made him aware of our Club!

The event was a result of a great team effort – the entire Committee of Swaffham Rugby Club, supported by bar staff and volunteers got involved before, during and after the game. Thanks to all for their contribution

We welcome new players, supporters and volunteers to our Club
