Name: Wayne Knight
Nickname: ‘Coach’
Position: Senior Men’s Coach
Who is your favourite player? Martin Johnson.
What is your favourite film? We are Marshall.
What music do you listen to? Ska, Punk, classical.
What is your favourite meal? Mature Cheddar and pickle sandwiches.
How did you start playing rugby? I went to a grammar school that did not play football but had a very strong tradition in rugby. I was taught the game by great teachers and as a self-conscious 6’ tall twelve-year old I found a game that I felt less conspicuous in playing and therefore able to enjoy myself more.
What is your favourite moment from your rugby career so far? So many, but being able to spend an evening chatting with Graham Rowntree about rugby and coaching is up there. Why Swaffham RUFC ? I am honoured to coach a group of players that work hard at their rugby but are also good people to be around off the pitch in the ways that they look out for each other. We are also supported by a committee that value the ’traditional rugby’ feel to the club and see it as a vibrant community rather than just a side that turns up to play.
