It was great day for Swaffham rugby
Live competitive Rugby returned to North Pickenham Road on Sunday 18th October, when Swaffham welcomed youth teams from Crusaders.
The event followed RFU ‘Return to Rugby’ guidance on restarting competitive grassroots rugby, and Government Covid-19 regulations.
It was great day for Swaffham rugby. It was clear from the first 5 minutes that we would be much, much stronger than Crusaders and so we lent them a series of players to try and balance things out a little.
Thanks to Finn, Barney, Felix, Sparky, Josh and Logan who played for Crusaders (and who made a huge difference – each one scoring for Crus at least once). The training sessions and activities are paying off and our communication and support play is getting better all the time.
We will face much stronger opposition as the season progresses and so we must keep working hard on our defensive structure and offside line discipline. Very good work today boys and very sporting too – well done!
Thanks also to the coaches, parents and supporters from Crusaders and Swaffham who made this such an enjoyable event. Special thanks to those who organised the catering, to Graham Smith for the action photos, and Rob Salter for arranging the fixture.
