Dereham 17 Swaffham 34 (12/03/22)

Swaffham travel with14, but take bonus point before half time.

Swaffham made good use of their superior back line to create scoring chances and excellent handling and passing enabled them to run in four tries in the first period. Slick handling gave Woody the opportunity to take his man on the outside, and the first points were on the board after just 5 minutes. Converted by Ed from 15 metres in. After 17 minutes a flowing move begun inside Swaffham’s 22 and went through several pairs of hands, until Tom Flowers sprinted in from 25 metres, and Ed converted again. Five minutes later and Lewis broke through the centre to outpaced the defence for the third. A penalty in front of the posts kept the scoreboard ticking, and with the last play of the half, Woody again used his pace to ease past the tackler and score in the corner. A difficult touchline kick was well struck by Ed and squeezed over off the crossbar. The half ended 29-0 to Swaffham and the photographer had to go home to walk his dogs before the England game.

2 tries from Connor Jones and 1 from Matty Taylor saw a rejuvenated Dereham dominate the 2nd half by 3 tries to one, but the damage had been done in the first 40 minutes and Swaffham came away with a 5 point win.
